This was my first mission trip I’ve ever been on. I was really nervous to go on it at first and didn’t really know what to expect. This mission trip has gone really well for me and has gone very smoothly. I learned about my patience level and my relationship with God. I learned that my patience is much larger than I think because of how much I snap at random and unnecessary things. My mindset about having to do little tasks and having the luxuries that I have has changed. I feel I am much more appreciative of what I have and how little I have to worry about the things other people have to worry about. One service site we went to, a group of us did dishes for 5 hours straight. Lets just say I probably won’t complain about having to do the dishes again. I also got to meet some really cool people. This one guy in particular named Chris, was homeless and then hitchhiked a ride with a prostitute 16 years ago. He then decided to get sober and start a non-profit called benefits in action and he now is raising a 11 year old girl as a single dad. In total, I have really enjoyed this experience and would definitely go on it again. (and apparently my best friend was “forced” to come for my sake and i don’t feel bad at all!)
Thank you for sharing! I feel so happy that this mission trip experience has been such a blessing to your youth group and so many other people!
