So far the trip has been fairly interesting. We have seen
many odd things from a dead cow to beautiful scenery almost everywhere we have
gone we are getting to see God’s work. I am a strong believer that the drive is
one of the most important parts of any trip. It gives us the chance to talk and
get to know one another and enjoy some amazing lighting storms! The weird
conversations and the sass has been flowing since we left the church on Friday
morning. We are lucky that the two days of driving have been flying by. Stories
from past trips are coming forward and we are all laughing at the weird things
our group has done. We have talked about Youth Works and the people we have met
through the years. A few things that we have experienced: a dead cow in the
middle of North Dakota, people being awake for less than an hour on each drive,
a bloody nose, lightning, Ciah got a bloody nose (in the car and we couldn’t
stop!) and our leaders got a free meal for lunch!
We pulled into Wendy’s in Miles City for lunch, as we walked
up to the counter the guy, Marcus, started asking who was paying and if we had
any coaches with us. I told him who was paying and that we were a Youth Group. He
began to ask “if they could do that” I was confused and a little worried that
he was going to kick us out of Wendy’s. That’s not what happened, Wendy’s paid
for our leader’s meals. To have a program set up in a fast food restaurant
amazed me. It was such a simple act to do for people who are working with youth
but I think it makes a huge difference. I think to see an act on our way to our
mission trip was an amazing God Sighting. It is a great way to help prepare for
what is to come.
