My expectations - Kian
I was not looking forward to this trip because I love my sleep and snacking 24/7. I like adventure and I knew this trip was maybe going to be a bit more adventure than I was ready for. I don't like to be uncomfortable because it makes me feel unsafe. On Thursday I went to the BARM Farm (BARM stands for Bay Area Rescue Mission) in Richmond. It was pretty great. Jonah and I talked about life, Naked Falls in Lackamas (a swimming place) and we did a lot of work at the farm. We shoveled manure into wheel barrows to make a flower bed along one of the 8 or so greenhouses. Then we took plastic off dirt and ate our lunch. After that, we went to the shower place and I got to hang out with my homie Austin (a Youthworks leader). He's pretty chill. He skates and stuff. It was a great day. It was really hot at the farm but it was ok because I had fun. The farm is also really cool because everyone there running the farm (2 people) were also really nice and knew a LOT about farming and like the weather conditions and how it affects growth and water. I feel like God helped me with my discomfort at the farm by giving me people who care about me--Jonah, Tim and Britney. After this trip, I feel like I can adventure a lot more. It has taught me that Jesus will work in mysterious ways to help you serve God and for me to encourage others to serve the Lord. Which means this trip was a lot better than I expected.
