Most of the youth have been writing about the work they've been doing and the fun they've been having. The parts that might be left out is the attitudes and behaviors of our youth themselves.
Our trip, just like the last one, started out very high-energy. For the most part, that hasn't changed. Yes, the mornings are difficult - it's hard to get going after the long day of events and the "so so" rest during the night. It's especially difficult if your ministry crew is on breakfast duty. You have to report to the kitchen by 6:15am to prep everything for breakfast AND getting all of the lunch supplies set up so everyone can pack their lunches.
Anyway, I have been extremely impressed with our youth this year and their attitudes. I've heard virtually no complaining about anything--not even getting up early to prepare breakfast. We've encouraged one another, listened to one another, and everyone has been helpful. Our mission sites have been very productive. The groups I've seen have kept on task. They're able to make a mundane task fun while still being productive.
With the help of God, our youth are doing great things here, and having a great experience that hopefully they will remember for the rest of their lives. Continue to pray for all of us, the other groups here, the people of San Francisco. Be proud of your youth for the great attitudes and determination they're showing here to make this a meaningful and productive experience. They love hearing comments from all of you readers---so let us know you're reading!
And please ask them about their experiences when we get back. They're so excited to share stories with you!
Tim
